First Aid at Work Level 3 – FAW

First Aid at Work is an Intermediate Course to be able to administer First Aid on an employee or colleague who becomes injured or unwell at work. This involves basic care to prevent an injury from becoming more serious. Learn life saving skills, all inline with the Health and Safety regulations 1981.

This 3-day initial training course is the standard for designated workplace first aiders in higher-risk environments. Taught by Event First Responders, this regulated course ensures staff are fully prepared to deal with major illnesses and injuries.

Requirements

  • The Test papers are in English
  • You will be required to do CPR on the floor
  • You will be required to complete the 3 day course
  • Advanced notice may be given for special requirements on test papers. ie: Large print

1.3 Identify the need for consent to provide First Aid
2.1 Conduct a scene survey
2.2 Conduct a primary survey
2.3 Summon appropriate assistance when necessary
3.1 Identify when to administer Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
3.2 Demonstrate CPR
3.3 Identify when to place a Casualty into the recovery position
3.4 Identify how to place a Casualty into the recovery position
3.5 Demonstrate continual monitoring of breathing whilst a Casualty is in the recovery position
3.6 Identify how to administer First Aid to a Casualty who is experiencing a seizure
4.1 Identify when a Casualty is choking
4.2 Demonstrate how to administer First Aid to a choking Casualty
5.1 Identify whether external bleeding is life-threatening
5.2 Demonstrate how to administer First Aid to a Casualty with external bleeding
6.1 Recognise when a Casualty is suffering from shock
6.2 Identify how to administer First Aid to a Casualty who is suffering from shock
7.1 Identify how to administer First Aid to a Casualty: Bites, Stings, Small cuts, Grazes, Bumps and Bruises, Small Splinter, Nose Bleeds
7.2 Identify how to administer First Aid to a Casualty with minor burns and scalds

Describe the components of the functions of the circulatory system

Identify how to treat various types of wounds, such as gunshot, Abrasions and Amputation
Demonstrate how to treat an Embedded object

6.1 Identify how to administer First Aid for eye injuries, involving: dust, chemicals and embedded objects
Explain the definition of Shock
Describe the different types and causes of Shock and correct treatments

8.3 Demonstrate the use of a 'training device' adrenaline auto-injector
9.1 Recognise suspected Heart Attack

Recognise Angina signs and related physiology
Identify how to treat a Casualty suffering from an Angina Attack
9.1 Recognise suspected Stroke

5.1 Identify how to recognise the severity of burns and scalds
5.2 Identify how to administer First Aid for burns involving: Dry/wet heat, Chemicals and Electricity
7.1 Identify how poisonous substances can enter the body
7.2 Identify how to administer First Aid to a Casualty with suspected sudden poisoning
Demonstrate adult CPR using a manikin
2.1 Recognise a suspected fracture or dislocation, sprain or strain
2.2 Identify how to administer First Aid for a Casualty with suspected fracture, dislocation, sprain or strain
2.3 Demonstrate how to apply a support sling and an elevated sling
3.1 Recognise a suspected head injury and a suspected spinal injury
